C2SMART to partner with MTA New York City Transit on Accessible Station Lab
C2SMART researchers at NYU Tandon are working in collaboration with MTA New York City Transit (NYCT) on the subway’s new Accessible Station Lab. This pilot will test and evaluate 15 new accessibility features at the Jay St. Metrotech Station in Downtown Brooklyn. This includes both smartphone apps and physical infrastructure, designed to make subway travel more accessible for riders with mobility, hearing, visual, and cognitive disabilities.
C2SMART researchers are working under the direction of NYCT staff in administering surveys/conducting interviews and collecting data from users of the proposed features/installations. As the data analysis partner, C2SMART is collecting and analyzing the collected data to develop analytics to assist NYCT in evaluating the performance of each of the features being tested as part of the Accessible Station Pilot.
