C2SMART at the NY Auto Show
This spring saw the first-ever Tandon-VectoIQ Tech Talks at the New York International Auto Show, featuring C2SMART Director Kaan Ozbay and Deputy Director Joseph Chow. Co-sponsored by C2SMART, the event featured two panels presented on April 19 which looked at the expansion of mobility beyond privately owned cars and trucks, as well as related technologies that are changing how people commute and travel.
The first panel, moderated by Prof. Chow, looked at disruptive technologies in the urban mobility space. The lineup included Caroline Samponaro, director of Lyft’s Motivate, Su Sanni, founder of startup DollarRide, and Henry Greenidge from Cruise Automation. The Pink Tax on Transportation
A new study conducted by C2SMART and the Rudin Center for Transportation at NYU Wagner revealed some insights into transportation’s “Pink Tax,” a term used for the extra cost for products and services for women. Additionally, Kaufman presented the study’s findings
at numerous conferences, and the results were widely covered in a variety of media outlets including Business Insider and Wired. The resulting report and presenta- tions generated widespread interest in further research on the topic.
