On Wednesday, April 8, we hosted the 8th annual Women in Transportation Panel at NYU Tandon School of Engineering’s MakerSpace. Over 50 people joined us both in person and virtually for a lively discussion moderated by New York University PhD candidate Hannah Bonestroo.
Our panelists were:
- Dean Polly Trottenberg of NYU Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service & Former US Deputy Secretary of Transportation and New York City Department of Transportation Commissioner
- Sherry Lee , Asst. President at WSP
- Ruoran Lin, Associate Transportation Planner, NYC Department of City Planning
Each member represented various facets of the industry and provided their unique perspectives to the discussion. The conversation, which focused on personal experiences and overall industry trends, was enriched by the panel’s insights as well as thoughtful audience participation. A recurring theme was the importance of community in supporting successful, well rounded careers, a notion that was proven that evening both by the event itself and by the numerous conversations that occurred amongst the panelists and attendees after the event.
