Digital Twin Symposium 2026

April 20, 2026

On Monday, April 20, we cohosted the Symposium on  Digital Twins for AEC & Facility Managers with Carnegie Mellon College of Engineering. The daylong event, held at NY Tandon, was designed to bring together leading AEC/FM companies, asset owners, researchers, and innovators to showcase real-world applications and explore what’s next for digital twins in urban environments.

The day began with a welcome delivered by NYU Tandon’s Executive Dean Juan de Pablo, following by NYU CUE Prof. Semiha Ergan, and CMU’s Prof. Mario Berges and Prof. Gary Fedder.

Penn State Prof. John Messner provided an academic keynote, while Google’s John Sipple and Greg Schleusner of HOK added industry keynote perspectives.

The three panels, which blended academic, industry, and agency voices were:

  • AI-Powered Digital Twins: Design, Integrate, and Operate at Scale
  • Urban Digital Twins
  • Pitfalls to Practice: Lessons in Digital Twin Success

With over a dozen affiliations reflected in the participants and over 60 represented in the audience, the day was infused with a diverse range of perspectives, ideas, and experiences. We look forward to building on the exchanges that were fostered over the course of the day.

Thank you to all attendees and participants for an excellent day. And special thanks to the Carnegie Mellon team and Garrison Advisory for your support. Visit the website to learn more about the speakers and to view the full agenda.
