NYU Summer Programs: ARISE & UGSRP
Each summer, Tandon faculty welcome rising undergrads and high school students into their labs for a 10-week, hands-on research experience. Students work side by side with researchers, gaining skills, mentorship, and a glimpse into the excitement of real-world discovery.

Students work in Tandon’s labs with faculty who provide mentorship and guidance during the program.
Students participate in seminars taught by pre-eminent administrative and academic personnel.
Students have the opportunity to present their research to diverse audiences.
Students’ work will be published for future learning. Current archives represent hundreds of hours or research.

Students work with university faculty and other mentors throughout the summer, culminating in research presentations and poster sessions where the students can demonstrate their work.
Throughout the course of the summer, UGSRP & ARISE student participants hone soft skills, like public speaking, in addition to the strides they make technically with their hands on research experience.
Themes from previous C2SMART affiliated research projects center around urban mobility, roadway floodwater detection, pedestrian safety, and other transportation related issues.
Past high school participants of ARISE have later gained acceptance to institutions such as MIT and Brown for college, while NYU undergrads who completed UGSRP have leveraged their summer research experiences to enter the PhD program at NYU Tandon.
