For the 3rd year in a row, we had the honor of celebrating National STEM Day with Bard High School Early College Bronx and volunteers from the ITE Met Section. For the first time, however, this year’s event featured a tour of NYU’s MakerSpace Lab, where students learned about the Lab’s interdisciplinary and cutting edge tools that are available for NYU Tandon students. The Bard students were even able to 3D print and take home their own figurine after receiving a training from the NYU student MakerSpace employees.
As with years prior, a pizza lunch was accompanied by a panel of the ITE volunteers. They discussed their own experiences as students in STEM, their career development and current roles, and fielded questions from the high schoolers.
After lunch, the students broke out into groups and were able to test out our Virtual Reality driving technology with the help of student researcher Shuo Zhang. Shuo showed the high schoolers how to develop and test their own VR work zones.
C2SMART would like to extend a major thank you to all of the volunteers, staff, and students for making another year so special. See you for STEM Day 2026!
