This project will use analytical and simulation-based tools for bus network redesign in the presence of ride-hail/for-hire vehicle (FHV) services, particularly for areas regarded as transit deserts.
This project will develop a mobile app that streamlines the reporting of mis-parked dockless scooters and bikes, relaying data to companies responsible and/or local governments while generating a data set that can support a variety of research questions.
The NYU Rudin Center for Transportation specializes in policy related to the future of urban mobility. In the Future of Mobility workshops, the NYU Rudin Center will convene subject matter experts and government leaders. During the workshop, speakers and participants will identify policy initiatives and needs for seamless, technology-enabled urban travel.
The main deliverable for this project was a smartphone navigation app that addresses the specific mobility needs and priorities of seniors, improving their ability to travel around their cities. After the prototype was developed, the researchers recruited seniors to test the app for a few weeks, and then gathered their feedback.
In previous years, the research team has developed and calibrated a base model implemented in MATSim and SUMO. This virtual testbed simulates an 8-million-person population and includes cars, trains, bus, bikeshare, taxi, and other for-hire vehicles calibrated to the year 2016. The team is building the architecture to host this virtual test bed and developing system design and user guide documentation.
This research aims to develop modeling and analysis methods to capture the key behaviors and intersections of the major players when integrating ridesourcing with transit.
The knowledge base from this data can be used to support design of portfolios of service options for a city. Given all the myriad of different options and existing public data, can we design a framework that can identify operating strategies that dominate in one or more sustainability criteria and quantify their performances within a portfolio of projects for city agencies to evaluate?
This work will be conducted with the research group 6-t: Bureau de Recherche, based in Paris. The project aims to better understand and compare the consumption practices and mobility behaviors of the residents living in two of the major cities in the world (Paris and NYC). The work will be conducted through a simultaneous survey in both cities, analysis, stakeholder meeting and narrative.
The current Statewide Active Transportation Demand Management (ATDM) program is nearing the end of its contract period. This assignment will assist NYSDOT in setting a strategic direction and executing a procurement strategy for a new Statewide Mobility Services Program, building on the strengths of the evolving ATDM Program while leveraging the opportunities now available in the private marketplace.
